Crites (center) Receives Juliet Peddle Award at AIA IN
MKM architecture + design was honored with two Design Awards and MKM Senior Associate, Megan Crites, with a Service Award at the 2022 AIA Indiana Convention on Friday, October 21 at the Republic Building in downtown Columbus, IN.
Service Award
Megan Crites has been honored with the Juliet Peddle Award for 2022, which recognizes an individual architect for their strong willingness to pioneer, being successful in breaking new ground, strong devotion and commitment to architecture, display of professionalism and perseverance, and having a kind spirit. Beyond Megan’s professional practice which is focused on design for long-term care and behavioral health environments, her philanthropic efforts have spanned her career. She has remained an active member in the American Institute of Architects (AIA), shares her knowledge at conferences focused on her areas of design expertise, provides mentorship through the foundation of the N.E.W. Workshop, and more.

Compass Rose Academy was recognized in the category of New Construction Over $5 million. Located in a serene, rural Indiana, the location provides space for teens to reflect and focus on the therapeutic process. Thoughtful considerations were made in the design of Compass Rose Academy to provide an environment that feels like a home away from home. La Porte Exchange was recognized in the category of Interior Architecture Under $5 million. Design elements and preserved historical details nod to the building’s history as a telephone exchange as well as its use as a makerspace. Strategic and creative decisions were made while working with a limited budget to ensure all project needs were accomplished. This project was a truly collaborative effort between the owner, design team, and consultants to transform this dream for the community into a reality.
