By understanding the emergency healthcare challenges rural communities face, the industry can apply strategies to combat the issues.
Members of our staff volunteered on October 12th at Science Central for a special day, presented by AIA Fort Wayne and the Young Architects Forum of Fort Wayne, celebrating World Architecture Day. Over 350 people attended the event for hands-on activities and learning.
The event featured four unique stations, each focused on the architectural profession, for community members of all ages to participate. Attendees learned about the process of architectural design and construction. The stations followed the general stages of architectural design, from schematic design to design development to then producing construction documents. At the final station, their final building was placed on a large, printed site plan so that they could discuss the context within a neighborhood. Participants were also given the chance to experiment with artificial intelligence (AI) tools to conceptualize their own creative ideas.

“It was a blast to be around kids and help fuel their creativity with a new tool like AI. I love to talk about what I do at MKM, and sharing it with kids to inspire them made it even better. Seeing kids’ faces light up when I showed them a dinosaur house, a Lego school, or even a church for birds is what the day is all about. I loved that even the parents were invested,” shared Adam Jarosik, who volunteered at the event.
