MKM architecture + design selected for the Marathon County North Central Health Care Wausau Campus
MKM architecture + design (MKM) and Angus-Young Associates have been selected to expand and renovate the Marathon County North Central Health Care (NCHC) Wausau Campus located in Wausau, Wisconsin. The $73-million-dollar-project is based on recommendations found in the NCHC’s 2018 Facility Master Plan, which includes new construction for an aquatic therapy pool, community-based residential facility, skilled-nursing addition, and mental health inpatient and outpatient services.
“Similar to our own team’s mission, North Central Health Care fights to improve its community’s health across the care continuum,” said Dodd Kattman, Principal at MKM. “We are thrilled to be involved in such a significant project for the northern Wisconsin area.”
North Central Health Care has four campus locations and one administrative office, all located in northern Wisconsin. The Wausau Campus is currently 500,000 SF and includes the following programs: Crisis Services, Skilled Nursing, Addiction, Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, Adult Protective Services, and Aquatic Services. There are four distinct programs within the Skilled Nursing facility: Post-Acute Care, Ventilator Unit, a dementia program called Legacies by the Lake, and Long-Term Care.
